Eco Team

Here at The Gates, we take great pride in our role as part of the Eco Team. We are currently on our way to achieving 'Green Flag' status for our school and are undertaking as many projects as possible to support our three main aims against the 'Seven Steps' criteria. Our main focus' this year are: Biodiversity, Litter and School Grounds. This will help to support our peers by keeping our environment clean, and forming good links for Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC).

We promise to work together to change the way we think about our school environment and subsequently the Earth, growing this idea into the wider community of Westhoughton and Bolton

Our Aims

• Ensure that our work improves the environment of our school and it's place in the Westhoughton community.
• Increase everyone's awareness of sustainability and climate change.
• Undertake projects that make a difference to the school ground and that of the local community.

Latest Update

At the start of this year, we have looked at ways to improve our school environment, then wrote an action-plan based on how were going to meet the ‘Seven Steps’ on our way to becoming a ‘Green Flag’ accredited school. Our aim is to achieve the schools Eco-Schools 'Green Flag' award over the course of the next academic year.
